This inspection, which needs to be conducted at a licensed facility, helps confirm that your vehicle meets AB's regulations. At Northside Auto, our licensed journeyman red seal automotive technicians are authorized under AB’s Vehicle Inspection Program to conduct these inspections.

Step-by-Step Guide to the Out-of-Province Inspection

Step 1: Request a Vehicle Inspection Form To get started, visit any AB Registry Office to purchase a Requestfor Vehicle Inspection Form. You’ll need to bring proof of vehicleownership and valid photo identification. This form verifies yourvehicle’s registration status in AB and is the first step in theinspection process.

Step 2: Schedule Your Inspection Once you have the form, contact Northside Auto to book an appointment. The inspection itself takes around two hours, but it may vary depending on your vehicle’s make, model, and condition. When you come in, bring your vehicle and the Request for Vehicle Inspection Form to ensure our team has everything they need to begin.

The ‘Request for Inspection Form’ does not expire.

After the inspection, our technicians will provide you with a signed Record of Inspection, whether your vehicle passes or not.

Step 3: Complete Repairs (If Necessary) If the vehicle fails, don’t worry! Our team will walk you through anynecessary repairs and provide an estimate to get your vehicle up tostandard. You must complete repairs within 10 days of the originalinspection.

Step 4: Present the certificate to an AB Registry Agent Once your vehicle passes, we’ll provide you with an Out of Province Vehicle Inspection Certificate.

You must present the Certificate of Inspection to an AB Registries Agent within 14 days of the completed inspection. If the Certificate ofInspection is produced after the 14-day limit, it will not be accepted, and a new Out of Province Inspection will be required.
